F.A.Q

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is The War Tour suitable for?

This tour is suitable for everyone whether they are an expert who wants to be taken to the locations they have only read about before, or whether they just have a general interest in the history of WW2 or Iceland. This tour is aimed at adults, however, older and well-behaved children are welcome. The only people never welcome on the tour are holocaust deniers.

What if the weather is bad?

Normally the tour will go ahead, however, in the case of extremely bad weather we will cancel the tour, and you can either reschedule or you can get a full refund. Weather changes fast here so bring a raincoat and a warm jumper with you even in summer. (That’s just a tip for your whole time in Iceland!)

What should I wear?

Sensible shoes – no heels or open toes, especially if you want to explore the ruins. We will be outside for a lot of the day, so a warm rain coat, a jumper and a hat are helpful!

What should I bring?

As well as warm clothes you should bring lunch if you don’t want to buy it at the coffee shop. Definitely bring your camera for the stunning photos of Hvalfjord.

How large are the groups?

We only take small groups, up to 15. However, if you have a larger group we can organise a private tour in a larger bus.

What vehicle do you use?

We use different vehicles depending on the group size.

For example if only 2 people are booked on the tour we may use a large car, but if there are more we will use the mini bus.

We do this because we want to protect nature for future generations, we believe taking a huge bus with just a couple of people in it is a waste of fuel.

However, our vehicles are all very warm and comfortable. If you have any special requirements or requests please let us know.
